R&D Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Eikos develops unique carbon nanotube formulations for coatings. We also develop coating methods that allow the conversion of those formulations into highly differentiated products for the commercial markets and for a wide range of military applications. We exploit the capabilities of these technologies either through alliance partnerships with industry leaders or directly through our own manufacturing operations. To reach these goals our technical teams conduct fundamental research and development in the area of nanotube composite coatings, and new device structures utilizing these coatings.

We are seeking to fill a position of Senior R&D Technician who will perform tests to determine chemical, optical, electrical, mechanical and physical characteristics or composition of solids, coatings, solutions, and ink materials for such purposes as quality control, process control, or product development by performing the following duties:

• Assists Chemists on research programs and product development.

• Performs analysis, operates various laboratory equipment and instruments and test samples involving standard industry methods.

• Records test results and writes reports.

• Troubleshoots instrumentation problems, and coordinates service and repairs when needed.

• Schedules and carries out calibrations and other quality assurance practices and protocols where applicable.

• Writes Standard Operating Procedures as assigned.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE/ SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

BS/BA in Engineering/Science or equivalent work experience preferred; a 2 year Associates degree in science is a minimum requirement. >5 years experience in R&D, chemistry, or engineering preferred. Experience conducting laboratory work involving, optical, electrical, mechanical testing, thermal analysis, surface area and particle size analyses, spectroscopy, or similar methodologies is preferred. Experience with mechanical and electrical repairs and service a plus. Experience in laboratory and/or health and safety management a plus.
